So können zwar Risikofaktoren, wie Frühgeburtlichkeit oder andere Komorbiditäten, das Auftreten eines schweren Verlaufs begünstigen, allerdings treten schwere Verläufe, die eine Hospitalisierung erforderlich machen, auch bei gesunden reifgeborenen Kindern ohne Vorerkrankungen auf.<sup style="line-height:0;">5</sup> </p> <h3 style="font-family:Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;font-size: 14px;color:#005CA9;margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:16px;"> Therapie und Prävention </h3> <p> Bei einer RSV-Infektion kommen derzeit nur symptomlindernde Maßnahmen zum Einsatz, da eine kausale Behandlung zurzeit noch nicht möglich ist. Um einer Infektion vorzubeugen, sollte auf ausreichende Hygienemaßnahmen geachtet und bei Verdacht einer Infektion Kindertagesstätten, Kindergärten und Schulen gemieden werden. Eine Impfung ist bisher nicht vorhanden, Risikogruppen (Frühgeborene, Kinder mit Vorerkrankungen) können mit dem monoklonalen Antikörper Palivizumab eine passive Immunisierung erhalten. Dieser muss aufgrund der kurzen Halbwertszeit allerdings monatlich, während der RSV-Saison, intramuskulär appliziert werden.<sup style="line-height:0;">3</sup><br> Die jüngsten Fortschritte bei den Strategien zur RSV-Prävention sind vielversprechend: Ende des Jahres wurde der Antikörper Nirsevimab zur Vorbeugung schwerer Infektionen der unteren Atemwege durch RSV bei Neugeborenen und Kleinkindern in der EU zugelassen. Nirsevimab wird als einzelne Injektion in den Oberschenkelmuskel verabreicht. Nirsevimab wird als einzelne Injektion in den Oberschenkelmuskel verabreicht.
