Darunter ein eher unterschätztes Leitsymptom entzündlich-rheumatischer Erkrankungen: Fatigue, eine chronische Erschöpfung, die Lebensqualität, Arbeitsfähigkeit und soziale Teilhabe stark einschränkt. Prof. Dr. Andreas Schwarting nannte in der Pressekonferenz verschiedene Pathomechanismen wie Neuroinflammation und Störungen von Mitochondrien und des Energiestoffwechsels als mögliche Ursachen der Fatigue. Die Erkrankungen werden durch eine Fehlregulation des angeborenen Immunsystems verursacht. Verbesserungen beim Verständnis der Erkrankungen und der Diagnosemöglichkeiten führen dazu, dass mehr Fälle diagnostiziert werden. Neben monogenetischen, erblichen Fiebersyndromen umfasst das Spektrum auch polygenetische und multifaktorielle Erkrankungen wie Morbus Still oder die Gicht. Möglicherweise spielen die Prozesse auch bei Volkskrankheiten wie der Atherosklerose und von neurodegenerativen Erkrankungen eine Rolle. Frauen erkranken an entzündlich-rheumatischen Erkrankungen zwar häufiger als Männer, bis zur Diagnose dauert es bei ihnen allerdings oft länger. Geschlechtsspezifisch können die Manifestation der Erkrankungen, Komorbiditäten und das Therapieansprechen unterschiedlich ausfallen. Die Erkrankungen werden durch eine Fehlregulation des angeborenen Immunsystems verursacht. Verbesserungen beim Verständnis der Erkrankungen und der Diagnosemöglichkeiten führen dazu, dass mehr Fälle diagnostiziert werden. Neben monogenetischen, erblichen Fiebersyndromen umfasst das Spektrum auch polygenetische und multifaktorielle Erkrankungen wie Morbus Still oder die Gicht. Möglicherweise spielen die Prozesse auch bei Volkskrankheiten wie der Atherosklerose und von neurodegenerativen Erkrankungen eine Rolle.
